Thursday,November16th 2023,US : Big news for fans of Disney's
hit Frozen franchise - multiple new projects are in the works to expand on the
magical world of Arendelle. In a recent interview on Good Morning America,
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed to anchor Michael Strahan that Frozen 3 is
actively in development. But even more exciting - Iger also hinted that Frozen
4 is a possibility as well!
While details on the new films'
plots are scarce for now, Iger disclosed that Jennifer Lee, creator of the
original Frozen and Frozen II, has assembled her team at Walt Disney Animation
and is hard at work crafting the stories for not just Frozen 3 but potentially
Frozen 4 too. Given Lee's integral role in the first two record-smashing films,
Frozen lovers can rest assured these upcoming projects are in excellent hands.
The first Frozen movie charmed
audiences upon its 2013 release, earning over $1.2 billion globally. With
magical characters like Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven, catchy original
songs, and its inspiring themes, the film resonated with people of all ages.
Six years later, Frozen 2 surpassed the original by grossing $1.45 billion at
the worldwide box office.
Disney has recognized the
franchise's enormous popularity and already begun expanding the Frozen universe
for fans as they eagerly await the next films. This August, Disney announced a
new Frozen podcast featuring the voice talents of Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, and
Evan Rachel Wood reprising their roles as Olaf, Kristoff and Iduna. Over 8
episodes, the podcast delves into previously unexplored stories leading up to
the events of the first Frozen movie.
In November, the immersive
World of Frozen land is set to open at Hong Kong Disneyland. Bob Iger described
it as truly bringing the kingdom of Arendelle to life - a richly detailed
environment where guests can interact with characters, dine at themed
restaurants, and experience beloved movie moments. Disney has a history of
creating incredibly intricate themed lands that allow visitors to step right
into their stories, and World of Frozen promises to follow suit.
While plot specifics for the
upcoming films remain tightly under wraps for now, the confirmation straight
from Disney's CEO that not only Frozen 3 but also Frozen 4 could become a
reality has surely sent fans' excitement into overdrive. Jennifer Lee and her
team undoubtedly feel the pressure of living up to the preceding films' massive
success, but with the characters they created resonating so deeply with global
audiences, anticipation will be high for the next chapters in the lives of
Anna, Elsa and friends.
For die-hard Frozen followers,
the possibility of not just one but two more adventures in their cherished
kingdom of Arendelle is a dream come true. While they'll have to wait patiently
for further details to finally emerge, the early word from Bob Iger on what's
ahead is certainly cause for celebration among Frozen aficionados everywhere.
